During the 1990’s, it was noticed that there was a growing and indiscriminate
use of antibiotics, acaricides and other chemical products in the apiculture practice worldwide, used in the beehives as a defense against the diseases of European bees, resulting in the presence of residues in the different honeys.
During the Apimondia Congress held in Antwerp in 1997, Mr. Paulo Levy, an experienced Zoo Technician and professional beekeeper since 1981, manager of his own packed honey company, met with Swiss Dr. Marco Bosia, a Veterinarian Doctor and former President of the Swiss Federation of Apiculture, with more than 45 years of experience working as a professional beekeeper in Switzerland and Mr. Luiz Carlos Costa, a great businessman with large experience in the exports and management.
